This contemporary beauty by the Indian Ocean is a remarkable feature of the skyline and the seaside of Florida beach, Western Australia.
Designed by , the residence is open, white, airy and relaxing. The layout emphasizes facade and section, priding on a highly original, playfully folded roof that makes for a modern clerestory over the living, dining and kitchen, undulating ceilings and a unique lighting experience.
The unconventional roof shape may also be seen as a dynamic reflection of the ocean wave scenography, made from uncut and compressed fiber cement sheeting and recycled Jarrah. The playful shape is effective in keeping out the summer sun radiation but admit the lower ray winter sun. Supposedly inspired conceptually by a Jorn Utzon sketch, this beautiful and intriguing holiday home is surrounded by warm plywood decks for outdoor lounging. It allows a pure Australian summer experience, after sundown turning into a topography of light.
